This game is about a young boy travelling through space, looking for a dentist to help his infected tooth friends become clean and healthy again. When they find this dentist, she takes them to her laboratory and treats all the teeth in a very exciting and theatrical manner. The animations roll on for 2 minutes twice a day to ensure a squeaky-clean mouth. Alongside creating this animated story, I also designed all the mini-games that are playable throughout the day. As they were designed for children, the games are simple and enjoyable while teaching a life lesson of maintaining healthy teeth and discovering what dangers could lie in a planet full of infections! I wrote a detailed short story for this game as well as for an illustrated book.
The most uplifting part about working on this project was that it made a real-life impact. In China, the clients made a space themed dental clinic, welcoming young adventurous spirits to teach and help them with their oral health. They created costumes that matched the game, had the illustrated book sitting on a shelf at the clinic for children waiting to be seen and tablets with the games. With carefully designed in-game and real-world rewards, the children didn’t get that tense feeling of visiting their dentist, but in fact kept asking their parents when they would visit the galactic clinic again!
