Pokémon Energy Blast was a game I designed for McDonald’s. Unlike a regular mobile game, this game uses the Kinect and projects the game onto a tabletop/floor, making a regular surface in McDonald’s interactive and fun! Magic Table games range from 1-6 players, and 1-8 players can play Magic Floor games!
Two teams are formed by selecting two Pokémon characters. Players are then shown a large tiled floor with symbols. Each Pokémon has a unique energy type, and players must jump on tiles associated with their character to score points. If a team steps on another team’s tile, they score points for them, so they must be careful where they step. Tiles will gradually fade and be replaced by new symbols. Tiles with energy symbols that aren’t associated with either team can be used as stepping stones to get to tiles that are harder to reach. As the game progresses, so does the tile’s speed change and the team-based tiles’ population. This makes it harder to avoid scoring points for the opposite team and makes the game more exciting. The team with the most points wins the game when the timer is up.
Game Link: As this game is a Magic Tabletop game that is playable only in McDonald’s stores, there isn’t a link to play it. However, you can read about the games and where to find a Play Area to try out the game in person! McDonald’s Happy Meal Games
