I created all the post launch updates for this game; which included new locations, stories, characters, mini-games and puzzles. As all the mini-games in Noddy Toyland Detective were adapted from the TV show, I came up with new concepts from the episode Noddy Toyland: Rainbow Experiment, featuring the character Smartysaurus. In this episode, she tries to make a rainbow using mixtures she’s made in various sized test tubes. For the game, I made Smartysaurus’s lab a new location on the map where the player goes to complete an activity. In this activity, players are taught shape and colour matching; using essential cognitive skills for both puzzles. Smartysaurus presents an empty test tube holder and it is now the player’s task to put the correct shape and sized test tube into the slots. A list of the various sized test tubes is present in a side panel that can be dragged and dropped into the playing area. With a silhouette of the correct formation residing in the corner of the screen, players can begin to match the shapes and create the perfect order.
Once this has been completed successfully, the player is taken to a second round to test their colour memory. A full colour picture is presented on screen for 3 seconds before the game begins. Test tubes are highlighted individually so the player knows what they need to concentrate on and a panel of colours on the right of the screen show the available colours to pick from. If the player cannot remember the colour, a small hint will be displayed, giving a hue of the colour in the test tube before vanishing. When this challenge has also been completed, stars will scatter the screen and they can move onto the next shape and colour puzzle.
