Spotlight Snap was a game I designed for McDonald’s. Unlike a regular mobile game, this game uses the Kinect and projects the game onto a table-top/floor making a regular surface in McDonald’s interactive and full of fun! Magic Table games range from 1-6 players and Magic Floor games can be played by 1 player or more; however many it takes to fill up the space!
This is a fast-paced dancing game projected onto the Magic Table and the aim is to match as many dance poses as you can to the dancing avatar on screen. Each correct dance pose grants the player with a point and any incorrect matching leaves the player with no progression. If the player matches 3 trolls consecutively, they are awarded a bonus point, which is shown on-screen in bold colours and pictures! Every 15 seconds, the screen is filled with a large ‘Switch ‘em up!’ sign and all the buttons are highlighted to show that the decks are being shuffled to make the game harder. As well as a shuffle, more character poses are also added for an extra challenge. The pose times also decrease over time, starting at 5 seconds and decreasing by a second every time a switch takes place. These shuffles also contain new characters to make the game more challenging and generally fun and colourful. When the timer is up, the player who has scored the most points is declared the winner.
Alongside designing this game in 2 formats (circular & rectangular), I also created all the UI elements and all the in-game effects.
Game Link: As this game is a Magic Table-top game that is playable only in McDonald’s stores, there isn’t a link to play it. However, you can read about the games and where to find a Play Area to try out the game in person! McDonald’s Happy Meal Games
