Pokemon Match ‘Em All was a game I designed for McDonald’s. Unlike a regular mobile game, this game uses the Kinect and projects the game onto a tabletop/floor, making a regular surface in McDonald’s interactive and full of fun! Magic Table games range from 1-6 players, and 1-8 players can play Magic Floor games!
Each quadrant has six buttons with specific Pokemon characters and one large Pokemon in the centre of the screen. The aim of the game is to tap on the button that matches the Pokemon in the centre of the screen. If the selection is correct, the player is awarded with a point. The Pokemon poses last 5 seconds to start with and, over time, turns into 3 seconds. This becomes increasingly challenging alongside button switching and character changes throughout the game, keeping children on their toes. The player with the most points at the end of the game is declared the winner. This game encourages quick thinking, colour and shape matching and accurate timing.
Alongside designing this game in 2 formats (circular & rectangular), I also created all the UI elements and all the in-game effects.
Game Link: As this game is a Magic Table-top game that is playable only in McDonald’s stores, there isn’t a link to play it. However, you can read about the games and where to find a Play Area to try out the game in person! McDonald’s Happy Meal Games
